Selected Courses Taught
Complex Networks
This class is an advanced version of the Social Network Analysis Course. Here students are required to produce a conference quality research paper. The course includes a heavier mathematical formalism on networks and also studies networks that are not social (e.g. technological networks, biological networks, etc.)
Social Networks Analysis
A seminar-like course where we study social networks using a computational approach. After presentations are made about the basics of social networks the course focuses on how to model social networks, collect data, and analyse the structure of social networks.
Introduction to Biologically Inspired Computing
An introductory course where students are able to acquire knowledge in most areas of computer science that are inspired by biological systems.
Swarm Intelligence
An advanced course aimed at senior level graduate students where the area is explored in detail. This course was one of the first in the area to be offered worldwide. The material developed has been used by instructors at EPFL (Switzerland) and at JPL/Caltech (USA).
